YSRCP senior leader Vijay Sai Reddy, who had resigned his Rajya Sabha seat and had declared political retirement, was in the spotlight as always. The manner of resignation attracted many eyeballs particularly when Jagan, YSRCP chief responded to it stating the resigning leaders will soon end up nowhere and then his sharp retort was inevitable.
At a recent press conference, Jagan addressed the rising number of leaders leaving the party, emphasizing that personal integrity and credibility are critical in politics. He remarked that those who withstand threats and temptations while in the opposition are the ones remembered by the public, while those who give in to these pressures are easily forgotten. Jagan also questioned whether leaders who exit out of fear or personal interest can truly maintain respect, stressing that perseverance and character are vital qualities for any politician.
In response, Vijay Sai Reddy took to X (formerly Twitter) to hit back at Jagan, without directly naming him. Sai Reddy clarified that his departure from politics was driven by his deep-rooted values, integrity, and commitment to honesty. He strongly stated that fear had never been a factor in his decision to resign, adding that he stepped away from both his political roles and the Rajya Sabha because he felt it was time to prioritize his principles.
