Venu Swamy Approaches High Court Against Women’s Commission summons

Controversial astrologer Venu Swamy has approached the Telangana High Court against the summons issued by Telangan Commission for Women, asking him to prevent and explain his reported prediction that actor Naga Chaitanya’s proposed second marriage also will fail.

Justice Surepalli Nanda on Tuesday heard the writ petition filed by Venu Swamy seeking to set aside summons issued to him by Telangana State Commission for Women. The summons were issued by the Commission in relation to predicting a split between the newly engaged Tollywood couple Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala will also fail after three years of marriage.

The petitioner moved a lunch motion seeking urgency in the matter, contending that the said summon was issued to him in an unjust manner, also lacking power and jurisdiction. Ponnam Ashok Goud counsel for petitioner contended that the commission had no authority or jurisdiction to issue notices.

The counsel further contended that the notices are arbitrary and violative of fundamental rights and against the provisions of the Telangana State Women Commission Act 1998.

The public prosecutor told the High Court that he was making false and fraudulent comments in the name of astrology. The Judge after hearing the said submissions, enquired about the power and jurisdiction of the Women’s Commission in issuing summons. However, the matter was adjourned to Wednesday for clarification.

Meanwhile, TV 5 Journalist complained to police against Venu Swamy and his wife Veena Srivani for alleging that he had blackmailed them for a ransom of Rs 5 Crore.  reportedly.

Celebrity astrologer Venu Swamy alleged along with his wife, Veena Srivani that they were blackmailed by Journalist Murthy (TV 5) for Rs 5 Crore. A video was posted on his social media handles where the couple threatened to commit suicide out of shame.

Murthy approached the Jubilee Hills Police Station on Tuesday and filed  a complaint against   Venu Swamy and his wife for their `abusive conduct and remarks’ directed at him.  “I have initiated criminal action against them to bring to light the truth regarding the so-called demand for Rs 5 crores. This claim made by the couple is completely fabricated and aims to tarnish my honesty and integrity. They will soon stand exposed. Let the law take its own course.”  he added.
