In the wake of unprecedented flooding, former Vice President of India, Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu steps forward with personal contributions and a call to action.
As two Telugu states grapple with the aftermath of relentless torrential rains, the divesting impact on lives and livelihoods has been profound, he came forward with his own contribution to the relief and rehabilitation operations of the two state governments.
Moved by the plight of those affected, the former Vice President has not only expressed his sorrow but has also taken significant steps to contribute towards relief efforts.
In a gesture that underscores his deep connection to the Telugu-speaking states, Venkaiah Naidu has pledged a total of Rs. 10 lakh from his personal pension to the Chief Minister’s Relief Funds of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana – Rs 5 lakh to each state.
This act of generosity reflects his unwavering commitment to the welfare of his people, transcending the boundaries of political office and embodying the essence of public service.
In a statement, Venkaiah Naidu articulated his deep concern for the flood-ravaged regions, expressing his distress over the severe conditions that have left many in dire need. He promptly reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, conveying the gravity of the situation and urging for immediate and robust central intervention.
Beyond his personal contribution, Venkaiah Naidu’s efforts have been magnified through the philanthropic endeavors of his family’s foundations. The Muppavarapu Foundation, managed by his son Muppavarapu Harshavardhan, has donated Rs 2.5 lakh each to the Chief Minister’s Relief Funds of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Similarly, the Swarna Bharat Trust, led by his daughter Smt. Deepa Venkat, has also extended Rs 2.5 lakh to each state’s relief fund. These contributions, though modest in comparison to the scale of the disaster, are significant tokens of solidarity, aimed at providing immediate relief to those most in need.
Venkaiah Naidu has also issued a clarion call to voluntary organizations and youth across the nation, urging them to come forward and participate in relief efforts. His appeal is not merely a request for financial assistance but a call to action, encouraging collective responsibility and community spirit.
