YSR Congress party president and Pulivendula MLA YS Jagan Mohan, who didn’t secure even the leader of opposition status after failing to win minimum number of assembly seats in the recent elections, appears to be very keen on retaining power by hook or crook in the next term. He is currently busy turning every incident into a political issue and gain some sympathy and mileage from the public of Andhra Pradesh.
Unfortunately, Jagan’s attempts to blame the government for natural disasters met with firm retaliation by the NDA government. From Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to Ministers to MLAs, everyone is counter attacking Jagan by exposing his blatant lies. After calling Vijayawada floods a man-made disaster, Jagan tried to repeat the same strategy during his visit to Pithapuram.
While Jagan’s claims during Pithapuram visit expected a strong response from Deputy CM and Janasena supremo Pawan Kalyan, it was former MLA and Telugu Desam Party leader Varma who came out all guns blazing with facts and figures to refute the allegations.
Varma, who didn’t contest in the recent elections but gave ample support to Pawan Kalyan and ensured a decisive mandate in Pithapuram, held a press meet immediately after Jagan left the flood affected areas and strongly condemned his allegations. He said Jagan ignored the modernisation works of Yeleru reservoir in the last five years and caused huge damage to the surrounding areas.
Varma launched a scathing offensive against Jagan for misleading the public with his lies. The ex-MLA recalled how Chandrababu Naidu completed the majority of modernization works of Yeleru reservoir during 2014-2019. He flayed at Jagan for not ignoring the pending works in the name of reverse tendering and causing huge loss to public exchequer.
While YSRCP was expecting Pawan Kalyan to respond on Jagan’s allegations, Varma came of syllabus, opined political observers.
