YCP leader and former MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi who has been avoiding police arrest though special police teams are extensively haunting for him, has approached the AP High Court seeking anticipatory bail in the Gannavaram TDP office burning case.
A few days ago it was speculated that police arrested him, who is the 71st accused in this case. But the police could not trace Vamsi’s whereabouts. Besides Hyderabad, the police are on a rampage in many areas. Against this backdrop, he filed a petition for anticipatory bail.
18 people have already been arrested in the case of attack on TDP office. A petition for anticipatory bail was filed while special teams were searching for Vamsi. Vamsi has been almost incognito ever since the NDA coalition government came to power in AP.
While the YCP was in power, his inappropriate comments on the floor of the assembly against the then opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu’s wife Bhuvaneshwari created great uproar.
Even after that, Nara Lokesh and Chandrababu were severely criticized personally by him, using abusive language. Before the elections, his followers attacked the Gannavaram TDP office and created violence.
In the wake of these developments, Vamsi was confined to Hyderabad after the election results. Two months ago, Vamsi’s apartment in Vijayawada was attacked by youths and there was a lot of tension. The police had to control them.
Although Vallabhaneni Vamsi was not directly involved in the attack on the Gannavaram TDP office, there are allegations that he instigated his followers in his capacity as an MLA. After the TDP came to power, the police were instructed to take action against those responsible for the attack on the party office.
15 people, including Bapulapadu MPP Nagesh, were arrested in this case on July 9, and later three others. The rest were declared absconding. Since then there is a lot of pressure on the police.
