Vallabaneni Vamshi Finally Arrested By AP police

Sunday, April 27, 2025

After taking a political obscurity for nearly 8 months since losing the 2024 elections from Gannavaram segment, former YSR Congress party MLA Vallabaneni Vamshi has finally been arrested by Andhra Pradesh police on Thursday morning in Hyderabad. He is now being brought back to Vijayawada for taking further necessary action. There is no official statement from the police on why Vamshi was arrested. Sources revealed that he was arrested from Hyderabad residence in My Home Bhoja apartment.

Vamshi was accused number 71 in the case relating to attack on Telugu Desam Party central office which took place on February 20, 2023. As the YSR Congress party was in power, there was no action from the police until the NDA government came to power in June last year. Several persons have already been arrested in the last six months and recently Vamshi’s followers and his personal assistant were also nabbed by the police. Vamshi was allegedly one of the masterminds behind this attack along with many other YSRCP leaders.

Vamshi filed anticipatory bail petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court and the judgement was reserved for February 20th. In the meantime, the case took a significant turn as the complainant Satyavardhan who worked in TDP central office and was also the prime witness of the incident turned hostile before the judge. He submitted that he has no connection with the case.

Allegedly, Vamshi has threatened Satyavardhan and compelled him to deny his presence at the time of attack. There are reports that Vamshi tried to kidnap him as well. So, an SC/ST atrocity case has been lodged against Vamshi. So, it remains to be seen on what charges was Vamshi arrested now whether relating to the attack of TDP office or his attempt to kidnap the witness.

Vallabaneni Vamshi won as Gannavaram MLA two times from TDP. However, he defected into YSRCP in 2020 and attacked Lokesh and Naidu several times. He also used foul language against Nara family during his media interactions. There has been a lot of pressure on TDP to arrest Vamshi. After losing 2024 elections , Vamshi went into hiding all these days.
