Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia has appreciated that ‘Telangana’ has become a role model for other states in providing digital connectivity to rural areas. He praised the ‘T-Fiber’ pilot project of villages undertaken by the Telangana state government as a model for the country.
In the roundtable meeting of state IT ministers and secretaries held in Delhi on Wednesday under his chairmanship, he specially congratulated the state IT and Industries Minister Sridhar Babu for paving the way for digital inclusion with innovative approaches. He praised Telangana for showing how ‘last-mile fiber connectivity’ can transform rural communities.
He asked other states to also cooperate in implementing the ‘T-Fiber’ model across the country. He suggested that steps be taken to expand this pilot project to other areas.
IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said that digital equality is the foundation of inclusive growth and that his government’s resolve is to reduce the digital gap between rural and urban areas. Accordingly, he said that he is formulating and implementing concrete plans with sincerity and moving forward with innovative approaches.
Sridhar Babu explained that he is building a strong digital infrastructure for the future generations. He said that his goal is to reach the last person in remote areas with digital fruits, and he is working to provide low-cost high-speed connectivity to every household, government, private offices and commercial institutions in the state through T-Fiber.
He said that in line with the goals of Digital India and Bharat Net, he is effectively bringing e-governance, education, healthcare, digital entrepreneurship and other services to the doorstep of the people through the Fiber-to-the-Home network.
He urged the Centre to speed up the implementation of ‘Bharat Net’, address the right-of-way challenges, and strengthen the cyber security framework to protect the digital assets of the country and the states. He made it clear that the state government is ready to work with the Centre on these issues, beyond politics. T-Fiber MD Venu Prasad and other top state officials participated in the meeting.
