Union Minister Piyush Goyal inaugurated National Turmeric Board in Nizamabad

Inaugurating the National Turmeric Board in Nizamabad virtually through video conference from New Delhi, Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal compared the turmeric crop to gold in agriculture. He said that it is a joy to inaugurate the Turmeric Board in Nizamabad on the day of Sankranti.

He said that India has a great name in the world and farmers will be encouraged to grow quality crops. He said that the Turmeric Board was established with the blessings of Prime Minister Modi and the promise he gave has been kept. He congratulated Ganga Reddy, who was appointed as the first chairman of the Board.

He emphasized that Prime Minister Modi has taken this decision as a gift for the farmers who grow turmeric in 20 states, including Telangana, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Meghalaya. He said that whatever Modi says, it will be fulfilled. He said that 30 varieties are being cultivated across the country. They also have a GI Tag.

He explained that the important variety crop is cultivated in large quantities in the states of Telangana and AP, that is why the board is being set up here. He said that research on new varieties, value addition to turmeric crop and exports will be done. He also said that publicity will be done on the uses of turmeric.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that farmers will get support from the board in many aspects including increasing crop yield, supply chain, infrastructure development, and using it in the pharma sector due to its medicinal properties.

MP Arvind felicitated Union Minister Piyush Goyal with a shawl and a garland of turmeric horns. He said that he is bowing to Narendra Modi, who fulfilled the dream of turmeric farmers on Sankranti day. He said that the establishment of the Turmeric Board will not only be useful for the farmers but also for the entire district in terms of tourism.

He said that the establishment of the Turmeric Board will provide better prices to the farmers and it will be useful in many ways including exports, storage, marketing, processing and research. Union Minister of State Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Chairman of the National Turmeric Board Palle Ganga Reddy, BJP MLAs Rakesh Reddy, Dhanpal Suryanarayana and turmeric farmers participated in this program.
