Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu ended the long wait on the new TTD board by announcing media baron and businessman BR Naidu as the chairman and 23 others as members who will look after the administrative functions of Tirumala temple. As like before, the selection of chairman and board members this time is also not devoid of controversies and reactions. But, the government feels it has balanced several equations with its choice of representatives.
Meanwhile, chairman BR Naidu, who heads the popular and pro-TDP media channel TV5, gave out his first reaction on getting appointed to the prestigious post. Naidu thanked the government of Andhra Pradesh for honouring him with an esteemed and prestigious post.
In his maiden media interaction, Naidu hit out at the YSR Congress party for failing to save the sanctity of the biggest Hindu temple and also for resorting to numerous irregularities in the last five years. Naidu said he was born and brought up in Chittor district which houses the holy Tirumala Hills. He stated that he used to frequently visit Tirumala from his childhood days, but didn’t grace the temple even once in the last five years as the previous government didn’t respect the sanctity of lord Venkateswara Swamy.
Naidu vowed to restore the lost glory of the temple with his efforts and also promised to follow the instructions of Chandrababu Naidu in solving various existing problems of Tirumala. He said he will act immediately on the problems once he takes charge of the post.
In the wake of recent controversy surrounding the adulteration of the famous Laddu prasadam, BR Naidu and his new team of TTD board will have a big challenge to ensure that the devotees visiting Tirumala will see the change that the new government has promised.
