Former chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s claims that “I will sit even in the opposition. But I don’t tell lies” became a topic for trolls in social media since Friday. Many are recollecting the numerous lies he used to campaign for 2019 polls, but later simply ignored all those commitments.
Political parties are making satires referring to Jagan’s comments ‘I am not a liar’, which may be difficult to count as his lies in the last ten years. It begins his `mother of lies’ with his commitment for developing Amaravati as capital city.
During the 2019 polls, he told people that he is the only leader who had constructed his own house in the capital. But soon after the elections he had taken a U-turn in the name of `three capitals’ and practically shelved the Amaravati project into cold storage.
In 2019, Jagan portrayed the murder of former minister and his uncle YS Vivekananda Reddy due to heart attack. Later he was accused of murder by TDP President Nara Chandrababu Naidu. He wrote articles in his newspaper with the title ‘Narasura Rakta Charitra’. But, finally, the CBI itself pointed fingers against his close associate and younger brother MP Avinash Reddy.
YS Jaganmohan Reddy as the leader of the opposition openly promised to cancel the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) within a week of coming to power. But, after coming to power, he could not keep that promise. The employees protested askin Jagan “Is your promise a lie?”
Jagan came to power by saying that he will release the job calendar on January 1 of every year. But, not even a single notification was given in the five years of his tenure.
Jagan has promised the women of the state that he will implement a complete ban on liquor in a phased manner as soon as he comes to power. But, during the five years of Jagan’s tenure, he did not care about the prohibition of alcohol at any ‘stage’.
Jagan used to shout loudly and speak in public meetings saying that Chandrababu had committed a crime just by looking at the electricity bills. As soon as he came to power, he announced that up to 200 units will be made free for SC and ST.
In the name of rationalization, depending on the property, he avoided this facility to some people and hiked power charges eight times. A double barrel has been implemented in the name of trueup and fuel adjustment. Jagan promised to give a social security pension at the age of 45 if he comes to power. He broke his own record in lies.
Jagan promised in the election campaigns that if YCP is given 25 Lok Sabha seats, he will bend the neck of the Center and get a special status. Despite securing 22 Lok Sabha seats, he never questioned PM Modi on it.
