TPCC chief Mahesh Goud slams Minister Ponguleti For Announcing Local polls

Friday, December 5, 2025

Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy is under fire from the TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud for announcing that local body polls notification will be issued by the end of this month. The TPCC chief was unhappy with the Minister for making such a big announcement, though this issue is not related to his ministry.

Mahesh Goud warned that an early announcement on an issue related to reservations was inappropriate. He questioned how they would make an announcement in advance without discussing it in the cabinet? He said that it was wrong for one ministry to talk about issues related to another ministry. He advised ministers to be careful when talking about issues within the jurisdiction of the court.

He said that such statements should not be made without consulting the party. Mahesh Kumar Goud suggested that ministers should talk only about issues within the jurisdiction of their departments. It may be recalled that the Revanth Reddy  government is working towards holding the local body elections.

Speculations are going on for some time regarding the holding of these elections. However, a final decision is yet to be taken in this regard. Meanwhile, Minister Ponguleti spoke to Congress party workers in Khammam on Sunday regarding these elections. He said that the schedule for the local body elections is likely to be released by the end of this month.

He also said that there is a chance that ZPTC and MPTC elections will be held first, later there is a possibility of going to the Panchayat and Municipal elections. It was revealed that the candidates will be finalized in accordance with the reservations.

According to his words, “We will clarify the election date after discussing it in the Council of Ministers. First, we will hold MPTC and ZPTC elections. After that, there will be Sarpanch and Municipal elections. There are only 15 days left for the local elections. Congress ranks should be ready”, he said.

The TPCC chief is impatient against some ministers who are making statements on sensitive issues, where legal complications are involved and the party and also the government is yet to take a final decision.
