Days after CPI (Maoists) general secretary Nambala Kesava Rao, alias Basava Raju was declared killed in an encounter by the security forces, the Maoists are now alleging that he was captured alive and later shot dead by security forces.
The Maoists released a letter on Monday under the name of Vikalpa, a spokesperson for the Maoist Special Zonal Committee and alleged that the security forces conducted a combing operation there based on information provided by the surrendered Maoists.
The party deplored that they failed to protect their top leader and such an atrocity happened based on information given by six members of Kesava Rao’s team who had recently surrendered to the government. It said that 20,000 security forces had surrounded their area since the day before the encounter and five encounters took place in ten hours.
It said that the intelligence agencies know that Kesava Rao was in the Mad area for 6 months and alleged that the members of the CYPC, who played a major role in the security of Nambala, were also among those who committed the betrayal.
It said that the Unified Command member who led the Mad movement also turned traitor, which made the work of the security forces easier, and that all these traitors, including Riki, participated in this operation.
Vikalpa confirmed that Nambala was killed in an encounter on May 21, 2026 in the Gundekot forest in the Mad area of Narayanpur district. It was revealed that 28 other Maoists died along with him. To this extent, it was because of these traitors that they had to suffer such a big loss.
“After receiving information that a police team had reached the nearby village of Nambala on May 19, we left that area for another area. Five encounters took place since the morning of the 19th, but no damage was done. On the night of May 20, thousands of police forces surrounded him. The security forces detained him for 60 hours. We tried to move Keshav Rao to a safe place. But he did not want to leave us”, he said.
“We were led from the front. 35 people risked their lives to save Keshav Rao. But in the operation held on May 21, 28 Maoists including Namba were killed. Seven escaped safely in this encounter”, the letter added.
The government had revealed that 27 people were killed in this encounter, but it was revealed in the letter that Maoists had taken another body with them. The Maoists deplored in the letter that the Indian government, which declared ceasefire with Pakistan forces, knowing well they are promoting terrorists, is not ready for talks with them. They said that although they have observed the ceasefire, the security forces have not respected it.
