Tobacco Farmers Write to Jagan and Newspaper Management

Prakasam: Tobacco farmers from the black burley region have raised strong objections to recent reports published in Sakshi newspaper, alleging that the articles misrepresented facts and portrayed non-cultivators as victims. In a letter addressed to former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and the management of Sakshi, the farmers demanded to know whether Jagan was aware of their struggles or had studied the ground realities faced by tobacco growers.
They appealed to the publication not to demoralize genuine farmers by publishing inaccurate or misleading content. “Publishing such reports damages the morale of those working tirelessly in the fields,” the farmers wrote, cautioning against spreading misinformation.
Refuting the narrative in the reports, the farmers pointed out that the current alliance government has allocated ₹273 crore for tobacco farmers. They noted that procurement centres were already established through Markfed in Parchur, Chilakaluripet, Prathipadu, and Addanki constituencies to support their needs.
Expressing deep concern, the farmers accused the newspaper of ignoring facts and misleading readers, thereby creating unnecessary confusion among the farming community.
