Tirupati: YSRCP leader Chevireddy Mohit Reddy, an accused in the attack on TDP MLA Pulivarthi Nani, has been taken into custody by Tirupati police in Bengaluru.
The incident occurred after the recent elections when Pulivarthi Nani, contesting from the Chandragiri assembly seat as the TDP candidate, was attacked by Chevireddy Mohit Reddy, who was running as the YSRCP candidate. The attack took place while Nani was en route to inspect the strong room at Padmavathi Women’s University in Tirupati.
A case has been registered under sections related to attempt to murder. In response to the charges, Chevireddy Mohit Reddy filed a petition for anticipatory bail in the High Court, but the hearing has been postponed. Tirupati police have now taken Reddy into custody and are making arrangements to transfer him to the state. Mohit Reddy, the son of former Chandragiri MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, is the 37th accused in the case.
