Pulivendula: A public darbar organized by YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief Jagan Mohan Reddy in Pulivendula on Thursday witnessed chaotic scenes as party leaders and contractors raised grievances over unpaid bills.
A large number of party workers and locals gathered to meet the former Chief Minister, but the event took an unexpected turn when some YSRCP leaders and contractors alleged that bills for work completed during the party’s tenure remained unpaid. They attempted to force their way into the camp office, resulting in a scuffle at the entrance.
During the commotion, a glass panel near the entrance shattered, causing injuries to a few individuals. To control the situation, police resorted to a lathi charge.
Addressing the contractors and party leaders, Jagan reportedly expressed his frustration, stating, “Why are you still asking for bills now? How can you not understand the situation?”
The issue of pending payments for work completed during the previous government’s tenure has caused significant financial distress for contractors across the state. This frustration boiled over as some leaders and contractors sought answers from Jagan during the darbar.
