Sunday, December 22, 2024

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has announced that it will launch the first phase of the Indiramma housing scheme as a special Diwali gift. With Diwali coinciding with Amavasya (New Moon), construction will begin on an auspicious date shortly afterward, according to State Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy.

The Minister outlined that 3,500 houses will be constructed in each assembly constituency. Village assemblies will be held to ensure a transparent selection process, focusing on economically disadvantaged beneficiaries without regard to party affiliation, caste, or religion.

This decision was part of a series of key resolutions approved at a cabinet meeting on Saturday, chaired by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, which lasted over four hours. Ministers Ponguleti and Ponnam Prabhakar provided additional details during a press conference, with Ponguleti hinting at a “major announcement” to be made before Diwali on October 31.

Responding to media speculation regarding land allocations, the minister clarified that no land has been allocated to any individual.
