The Telangana government has announced a loan waiver of ₹2 lakh for farmers, which has been rolled out in three phases. A total budget of ₹31,000 crores has been allocated for this initiative, with ₹18,000 crores already utilized. However, some farmers have yet to receive their loan waivers due to technical issues, prompting them to protest on the streets. In response, the government has launched a special drive to assist farmers with the loan waiver process. Special counters have been set up in villages and mandal centers, and a dedicated app has been developed to accept applications from eligible farmers.
Recently, Agricultural Commission Chairman Kodandareddy shared a significant update regarding the loan waiver for farmers. He confirmed that eligible farmers can apply for the waiver and explained that the agricultural department has identified some cases where individuals did not receive the waiver due to technical issues. He noted that six lakh applications have already been processed across the state. He urged any remaining farmers to approach agricultural department officials in their villages and mandal centers to submit their applications. He assured that every eligible farmer would benefit from the loan waiver. Furthermore, he criticized the BJP and BRS for spreading false information about the loan waiver for political gain.
Agricultural Minister Tummla Nageswara Rao recently provided an important update regarding the Rythu Bharosa scheme. He announced that the scheme will be launched soon, immediately after the completion of the farmer loan waiver process. Under this initiative, farmers will receive crop investment assistance of ₹15,000 per acre annually. For both Kharif and Rabi seasons, a total of ₹15,000 will be credited to farmers’ accounts, with ₹7,500 deposited for each season. The minister clarified that the Rythu Bharosa investment assistance will only be available for agricultural land, specifically excluding hilly, mountainous, and real estate properties.
