The Telangana Congress has decided to widely publicize the BC census survey and SC caste classification issues upto the village level and all sections of the people. Congress Legislative Party meeting was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, State Congress Incharge Deepadas Munshi, PCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud, ministers and MLAs attended the meeting. Along with the recently launched ambitious schemes and decisions, the CM gave directions on taking the BC caste census and SC classification issues to the people and preparing for the local body elections.
It has also decided to hold two public meetings on BC and SC classification and invite Rahul Gandhi and Mallikharjun Kharge to these meetings. Revanth Reddy has advised the MLAs to respond strongly to the criticisms being made by the opposition on the caste census survey.
He also mentioned that the notification for the elections to the local bodies will come soon and asked everyone to work with the aim of winning.
Meanwhile, TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud said that it has been decided to take strict action against those who oppose the party’s decisions and against the party’s leaders who are criticizing the party’s policies.
He cautioned that if the leaders of their own party are criticizing, bad signals will be sent to the people, and if there are any differences, they should be discussed internally. Otherwise, they should be suspended from the party.
“We discussed the local body election strategy in the state. We discussed the welfare schemes being provided by the government. We suggested that the schemes should be explained to the people. The opposition parties are misleading the people on the caste census,” he said.
Interestingly,10 MLAs who defected to the Congress party from BRS stayed away from the CLP meeting. It seems they feel that it is not advisable to attend the CLP meeting without complicating the dispute further, as the issue of party defection is currently under the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court and in the wake of notices received from the Legislative Assembly Secretary.
