Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) will be granted the same level of autonomy as other departments, with necessary regulations being relaxed accordingly. He mentioned that staff required for HMWSSB would be brought in on deputation from various departments, including 169 officers and 964 outsourced personnel.
The Telangana Cabinet held a meeting this evening, where several key decisions were made. Following the meeting, Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy addressed the media.
One significant decision was the formation of a 12-member committee, led by the Special Chief Secretary of R&B, to finalize the alignment of the southern portion of the Regional Ring Road. The Principal Secretary of R&B will act as the committee convener.
They also mentioned that there are 27 urban and local bodies within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits, and 51 village panchayats within the ORR have now been incorporated into the core urban areas.
The Cabinet decided to name the Women’s University after Chakali Ilamma, the Telugu University after Suravaram Pratap Reddy, and the Handloom Technology University after Konda Laxman Bapuji. Additionally, it was decided that the Police Health Security Scheme (SPL) will also be extended to other personnel. Furthermore, a support price of ₹500 per quintal will be provided for paddy starting from this Kharif season.
