Telangana state BJP President N Ramchander Rao alleged that the state Congress government was not following due legal process in providing reservations to BCs which resulted in the Supreme Court having dismissed a writ petition that opposed the 42 per cent reservations for Backward Classes ( BCs) in local body elections.
He said the only reason the petition was dismissed by the Supreme Court is that the case on the same issue was still pending in the state high court. However, he alleged Congress Ministers created a big drama and scene, traveling from Hyderabad to Delhi as if they were going to achieve a major victory.
Stating that BJP is always committed to providing 42 per cent reservations to BCs , Rao said if the Congress party is truly sincere, they should focus on ensuring justice for the BC community by presenting strong legal arguments with expert lawyers in the high court.
On the hike of RTC bus fares, Rao demanded immediately withdrawing the bus fare hike as sudden increase in the minimum city bus fare to Rs 10 directly burdens the poor and middle-class citizens. He alleged that the Congress government, which grandly promised free bus service for women, has now imposed a burden on the poor and middle-class by hiking city bus fares.
He accused that it is the policy and habit of the Congress government to give with one hand and take away with the other. He said a three member committee has been formed to gather feedback for electing the party’s candidate for the upcoming Jubilee Hills assembly bye-elections. The committee members were former MLA M Dharma Rao, former MP Ramulu, and Komala Anjaneyulu.
He said that the committee will collect opinions from party leaders, select the candidate, and announce the choice for the Jubilee Hills by-election, he said and expressed hope that the party will win Jubilee Hills bye elections.
Meanwhile, several leaders and activists from the Muslim minority community in the Maheshwaram constituency joined the BJP in the presence of party President N Ramchander Rao and MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy. Rao welcomed them by draping them with the party scarf.
Rao said muslims in large scale joining into the BJP is continuing and it shows that Muslim minorities are benefiting from the development programmes undertaken by Narendra Modi government.
