The Telugu regional political parties are expanding beyond their horizons keeping their state as well as nationwide political aspirations in mind. In this regard, the two National Telugu parties TDP and BRS are targeting the neighboring state Karnataka as its alternative to having a hold in National politics.
The states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana share their common border line with the state of Karnataka and all these border districts of the Kannada land are filled with many Telugu people. From Telugu politicians to movie celebrities, these border states also called jointly ‘Kalyana Karnataka’ during the British times have good links with United Andhra Pradesh. Areas like Bellari, Raichur, Kalburagi, Vijayanagara, Koppal, and Bidar have excess Telugu populations. So the parties TDP and BRS want to utilize the connections to use the votes and assembly segments of this area in their favor.
TDP which is all set to favor BJP in 2024 would excessively campaign for the BJP party which is already ruling Karnataka and BRS which is against BJP would support JDS in these regions by influencing the voters. Already BRS when it was TRS supported JDS in these regions and played a crucial role but now the entry of TDP would change the equations. In the midst of all this, the ruling party of AP, YSRCP is also looking forward to campaigning for BJP since it’s a secret ally of the Saffron party.
