The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has secured a clean sweep in the Graduate MLC elections in Andhra Pradesh, winning all five seats in the state. After claiming victory in three constituencies in 2023, the party has now won both seats contested in the 2025 elections.
Elections were held on February 27 for the East-West Godavari and combined Krishna-Guntur Graduate MLC constituencies, with vote counting conducted on Monday. In Krishna-Guntur, NDA candidate Alapati Rajendra Prasad secured victory with a majority of 82,320 votes, surpassing the required margin by the seventh round of counting. Similarly, in East-West Godavari, NDA candidate Perabattula Rajasekharam won with a lead of 71,063 votes, securing 51% of the total votes by the seventh round.
In the 2023 elections, TDP won three Graduate MLC seats—Vepada Chiranjeevi in North Andhra, Kancherla Srikanth in East Rayalaseema (Chittoor-Nellore-Prakasam), and Bhoomireddy Rangopal Reddy in West Rayalaseema (Kadapa-Kurnool-Anantapur). Notably, Pulivendula, the constituency of former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, falls under the West Rayalaseema MLC jurisdiction, where Bhoomireddy secured significant votes.
With three seats in 2023 and two in 2025, TDP has now secured all five Graduate MLC constituencies in the state. Additionally, the NDA alliance witnessed a 10% increase in vote share in these elections compared to the 2024 general polls.
