Telugu Desam Party membership has already crossed the 90 lakh milestone and is expected to reach one crore very soon, thus creating a new record in the country. Till now no other regional political party has such a massive membership enrollment.
Chief Minister and party chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu launched the membership campaign on October 26. The membership includes new members from AP, Telangana and Andaman and Nicobar Islands and those who renewed their old memberships.
Telugu Desam Party sources are confident that they will complete one crore memberships soon. Although the registration process is supposed to be completed by the end of this month, it is possible to extend it till Sankranti as per the suggestions of the activists.
TDP membership registration is receiving a huge response. It is known that it is being conducted online in a digital manner. Leaders and activists have taken this program seriously. While the old ones are renewing, new ones are being admitted.
Nellore city has topped the list in AP with 1,44,699 memberships. Palakollu (1,42,482), Atmakur (1,32,610), Rajampet (1,29,467), Kuppam (1,25,255), Undi (1,13,247), Gurajala (1,08,077), Vinukonda (1,04,141), Mangalagiri (1,02,771) and Kalyanadurgam (98,899) assembly constituencies are in the top-10.
Party sources said that there is a large response from the youth and five lakh members have been registered in the last 3 days. In this context, Venkatapuram, the hometown of the late leader, Paritala Ravindra, created a new history. One hundred percent of voters in that village took the membership of the Telugu Desam Party.
Venkatapuram village is under the jurisdiction of polling booth 225 of Nasankota Panchayat of Ramagiri Mandal in Sri Sathya Sai District. There are a total of 581 voters in the village list. Of these, 11 have died. All of the remaining 570 have taken up membership of the Telugu Desam Party. Venkatapuram became the first village in the joint Anantapur district to take up 100 percent TDP membership.
