Even though the Telugu Desam party won 135 out of the 144 seats it contested in the recent assembly elections of Andhra Pradesh and secured absolute power with the help of its alliance partners, the party chief and current Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is not happy on losing in some of the strongholds like Rajampeta and Thamballapalli where the party previously won with a decisive mandate. It is a known fact that the YSRCP won 11 seats out of 175.
As part of his review on seats where the TDP lost despite huge anti-incumbency against Jagan’s government, Naidu has reportedly expressed his displeasure over the dismal electioneering and poor ground work done by the leaders of these constituencies. In the last few days, the losing candidates of Rajampeta and Thamballapalli called on Naidu to submit a detailed report over the party’s defeat despite having strong chances as per the pre-poll and post-poll surveys.
Rajampeta TDP contestant Sugavasi Balasubramanyam and Thamballapalli candidate Jayachandra Reddy have informed Naidu that the party lost in these seats because of internal politics and lack of support from leaders who defected from YSRCP. Naidu is said be very disappointed for losing Rajampeta segment even after Pawan Kalyan and Lokesh canvassed in the constituency after his election campaign. He is angry with the fact that the party supporters didn’t co-operate with each other.
Naidu further pointed that he has already cautioned how group politics and coverts within the party will impact the winning prospects in these seats and expressed unhappiness for not taking his suggestions seriously. The TDP supremo has asked both these leaders to concentrate on making the party stronger in the coming days.
In Rajampeta, YSRCP MLA Akepati Amaranath Reddy won with 7000 majority. In Thamballapalli, Peddireddy Dwarakanath Reddy of YSRCP won with close to 10000 votes.
