Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is said to be worried towards growing discontent among TDP cadres over ongoing IAS transfers in the government. So, he has decided to be careful hereafter in postings.
They wonder that officers known for their proximity with YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime and facing severe charges of corruption and irregularities are being rewarded with key posts, while those sidelined by the previous regime for their integrity, are being ignored.
The government is already struggling to give postings to controversial officials like Gopalakrishna Dwivedi, Sai Prasad and Pradyumna who played a key role in the YCP government. The Dwivedi department has already been changed. Recent transfers of district collectors also raise concerns. While seven of them were asked to report GAD without any posting, six of existing collectors posted again as collectors.
A retired North-Indian IAS officer, who was key in the previous Chandrababu Naidu’s regime, is said to be monitoring all these transfers, rewarding suspicious officials. Even senior TDP leaders felt sad that those who got key postings for political reasons in the last five years are getting priority in the new government as well.
More particularly, posting Kurnool Collector G. Srijana to the crucial NTR district is causing surprise even in the official circles, as she was known for her proximity with key YCP leaders. Srijana, who was a daughter-in-law of a family with a political background in Krishna district, was also entrusted with key responsibilities in the previous government.
She was chosen by a key YCP leader, who earlier practically dictated Northern Andhra affairs, as Visakha Municipal Commissioner, though she was not a senior IAS officer at that time. During his tenure as GVMC commissioner, there are allegations that she took decisions such as road widening at the residence of present TDP president Palla Srinivasa Rao, demolitions at the house of late MP Sabbum Hari in the name of encroachment, and changing the traffic signal under YCP pressure.
Later as Kurnool collector also she was allegedly under the influence of some YCP leaders. There are also criticisms of her family members interfering in her key administrative decisions.
