Former Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief and AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal broke her silence for first time after allegedly being assaulted at CM Kejriwal’s official residence on Monday. Maliwal, in an X post, thanked her supporters for their prayers and asked the BJP not to do politics on this. She hopes `appropriate action.
“What happened to me was very bad. I have given my statement to the police on the incident that happened to me. I hope that appropriate action will be taken. The last few days have been very difficult for me. I thank those who prayed for me. Those who tried to do character assassination, said that they were doing it on the instructions of the other parties, may God keep them happy too. An important election is going on in the country, Swati Maliwal is not important, the issues of the country are important. There is a special request to BJP not to do politics on this incident,” she said on X.
Earlier, she has narrated the entire incident which took place at Kejriwal’s residence on May 13 (Monday) to the Delhi Police, after senior cops visited Maliwal’s house seeking her statements in the alleged assault by Kejriwals’ Personal Assistant (PA), sources have informed.
Meanwhile, the opinion poll conducted by India TV revealed that a whopping 85 percent people think that the incident will lessen the vote percentage of the AAP, only 11 percent were of the view that it will have no impact on the Delhi-based party. 4 percent remained undecided. As many as 9,882 people participate.
Sources have further said that the Delhi Police has begun its legal proceedings based on Maliwal’s statements. They further said that Swati Maliwal has not asked Delhi Police that they cannot take action in this case. They further said that Swati Maliwal wants Delhi Police to take action in the assault case.
As per sources, Swati Maliwal did not retract from her statement in the assault case. The Delhi Police will soon register an FIR in the case. Senior Delhi cops, led by Additional Commissioner of Police PS Kushwaha visited her residence and left the place after four hours to seek details of the incident, they said.
