Swaroopanandendra Swamy of Sharada Peetham in Visakhapatnam, who was got prominence during YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime being close to the ruling establishment and now maintaining silence, has revealed that hereafter he is intending to devote more time to penance in RIshikesh.
So, he requested the AP government to withdraw the X category security provided to him during the previous regime. To this end, a letter was submitted to the AP DGP and Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner on behalf of Sharada Peetham requesting that the gunmen be withdrawn.
Swamiji stated in the letter that the current and previous governments provided police protection for his safety and well-being from 2019 to 2024. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the YSRCP and coalition governments for supporting Sharada Peetham since 2019.
Meanwhile, the AP government recently gave a big shock to Sharada Peetham. The AP cabinet took a decision on October 24 to cancel the land allocations made by the previous YSRCP government in Kothavalasa, Bhimunipatnam mandal. The Jagan Mohan Reddy government allotted 15 acres of land worth about Rs. 225 crores to the Sharada Peetham at Kothavalasa on the Visakhapatnam- Bhimunipatnam beach road for just Rs. 15 lakhs (Rs. 1 lakh per acre).
The district administration said that the registration value of the land there was up to Rs. 2 crores, but the then government did not listen. Moreover, the VMRDA took up the construction of a road on the land allotted to the Peetham on the hill at a cost of Rs. 2 crores.
Meanwhile, the Peetham, which had taken the land saying that it would expand spiritual programs and establish a Vedic school, but later sought permission to use it for commercial purposes. Immediately, a GO was given secretly for the construction of an eight-storey hotel in the name of a boarding house.
It came to light that the land was transferred in the name of an assignee, not in the name of the Sharada Peetham. The current coalition government recently obtained a report from the district administration on this matter. After examining it, it finally decided to cancel the land allotment.
Moreover, during the previous government’s tenure, on December 26, 2023, the then TTD board allocated land to the Sharada Peetham at the Gogarbham Dam in Tirumala. However, the government rejected the resolution for land allotment and building construction for the Sharada Peetham in Tirumala.
To this extent, the Endowments Department has issued orders to the TTD EO. Also, the government has issued orders suggesting that in future, such land allotments and building construction issues should be sent for government scrutiny before resolutions.
Moreover, the TTD is ready to take action against the constructions undertaken by Sri Sharada Peetham in Tirumala. To this end, TTD has formed a committee of four experts to avoid any legal implications.
