The filing of nomination as an independent candidate by Swami Paripoornananda as an MLA candidate from Hindupur on Tuesday is causing a stir. He was hoping for a ticket from the BJP and after not getting a ticket from that party, he filed nomination as an independent candidate.
It is known that Nandamuri Balakrishna is in the fray as TDP candidate from Hindupur Assembly Constituency. Balakrishna, who recently filed his nomination, is rushing into the election campaign. TDP, BJP and Jana Sena alliance candidates are campaigning for his third successive term.
Balakrishna is too eager to win this time and achieve a hat-trick. Balakrishna’s victory in Hindupur, which is a stronghold of the Telugu Desam Party, was expected to be easy. But the filing of the nomination by Swami Pripurnananda gave scope to sense some attempts of sabotage by his political opponents.
Swami said that he was hoping to get a ticket from the alliance, but as it did not come, he is contesting as an independent candidate. But originally he has been stating that he wants to contest to the Hindupur Lok Sabha as BJP candidate. But now filing nomination for the assembly segment giving indication to believe that his real intentions are different.
However, the extent of his influence is likely to be known on the day of the election results. He joined the BJP before the 2018 Telangana Assembly elections and actively participated in the election campaign. At one stage there were speculations that he would be projected as BJP’s chief ministerial candidate.
However, he seems to have been politically crushed as the BJP had to settle for just one seat. After that, he did not participate in any BJP activities. However, now before elections he started cultivating ambition to contest for Lok Sabha from Hindupur. But, BJP has never responded to his ambitions.
