Supreme Court Issues Notices To Key Accused In Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy Murder Case

Monday, April 28, 2025

In a significant turn of events in ex-Andhra Pradesh Minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, a new legal turn has come up. Some of the accused in the case who had earlier been released on bail for various reasons are now under the scanner. Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Sunitha Reddy has been leading the legal fight, contesting the accused’s bail to be cancelled. Her efforts have now reached the Supreme Court, which issued adverse notices to one of the prime suspects, Gajjala Uday Kumar Reddy.

Uday Kumar Reddy is said to have been a key player in the killing of Vivekananda Reddy, with reports claiming he attempted to make the murder look like a heart attack. He was initially detained by the CBI but subsequently obtained bail. Sunitha Reddy, determined to pursue justice for her father, filed a petition in the Supreme Court requesting that his bail be canceled.

At today’s hearing, the bench led by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna posed sharp questions regarding Uday Kumar Reddy’s role in the crime. Sunitha’s attorney replied by pointing towards his actions in manipulating the scene to present Vivekananda Reddy’s death as natural falsely. The attorney asked the court to cancel his bail, and the Supreme Court issued notices to Uday Kumar Reddy, requesting that he explain why his bail should be canceled.

The court has also ordered hearing of Sunitha Reddy’s petition to cancel the bail of other accused persons, such as Y.S. Avinash Reddy, together with theirs. This has further escalated the legal process in the senseless murder case, with Sunitha Reddy and her lawyers proceeding with their quest for justice on behalf of her father.
