The Supreme Court has once again postponed the hearing of the murder case of former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy, which created a sensation across the state. There is a certain impatience as the investigation has been going on for six years without any real culprits being identified and without any progress in the investigation.
On the other hand, Viveka’s daughter Dr. Sunitha Reddy approached the Supreme Court to cancel the bail granted to the accused in the case by the Telangana High Court. Before making a decision on this, the Supreme Court is trying to decide whether a CBI investigation is still necessary or not?
The CBI is in a dilemma as the Supreme Court has asked for a decision on this matter. Advocate General SV Raju, who appeared on behalf of the CBI, sought time to say whether further investigation is necessary in the case? In the wake of allegations that the CBI is not able to move forward due to the support of the Center in this case, it has become important to seek more time to decide on the further investigation.
With this, the bench headed by Justice MM Sundaresh announced that the further hearing will be postponed to the 16th of this month. The Supreme Court had in the last hearing directed the CBI to clarify whether further investigation into the conspiracy angle in the Viveka murder case was necessary or not?
Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, representing the CBI, was directed to prepare its arguments on this and requested time to file an affidavit. The Supreme Court, which would have done the same, adjourned the hearing for another week after the CBI sought time to express its opinion on the need for a more in-depth investigation in the Viveka case.
The Supreme Court bench today announced that the case will be heard on the 16th of this month at 2 pm. The answer given by the CBI in this hearing has now become crucial for the further investigation in the Viveka case. The cancellation of bail of other accused including Avinash Reddy also depends on this.
