Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has pushed AP CM Chandrababu Naidu into self-defense by giving a big blow to the country’s most powerful industrialist, Adani Company. Even though the contract was won through global tenders, the smart meter project worth thousands of crores of rupees awarded to Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) was canceled due to high prices.
He decided to call fresh tenders again. With this, now everyone’s attention has now fallen on Chandrababu Naidu. AP CM, who is a senior politician in the country frequently says he will not tolerate corruption at any level.
But it is surprising that he is unable to take any action against the solar power agreement, in which Adani was involved. Moreover, Vijayanand, who played a key role in this power deal and was known for his proximity with the former CM Jaganmohan Reddy, was made the Chief Secretary.
Chandrababu Naidu, while in the opposition, accused that the agreement signed by the YS Jagan’s regime with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) would burden the people of the state Rs 1 lakh crore. But, now he is not responding to any demands to cancel these agreements.
The US media exposed that the former Chief Minister went ahead with this agreement even after finance and energy officials expressed their reservations. For the first time responding to this controversy, Chandrababu Naidu said on the New Year day, that in fact this is a golden opportunity for him to take action against the former Chief Minister on the allegations of taking crores of rupees of bribes.
But, he said he is waiting as his goal was not to settle scores and arrest Jagan. But, he said that he will give life to credibility and that this is the difference between YSRCP leaders and him.
Moreover, Chandrababu expressed fears that if the SECI agreement is canceled, he will have to pay a fine. He said that if action is to be taken against Jagan, the charges against him must be confirmed. He made it clear that action cannot be taken until there is more clarity on this.
