The ongoing rescue operations at the SLBC Tunnel Mishap at Domalapenta in Nagarkurnool district are continuing. There is no progress in the rescue operations. The rescue operation has slowed down due to adverse conditions in the tunnel. Going inside after 11 kilometers has become a nightmare.
The situation is that the only way to go is with the help of a conveyor belt. The oxygen supply tube has also been destroyed, water.. mud.. all the material related to the boring machine has collapsed, so it has been concluded that they need to be brought out and only then can we go inside, said Arvind Kumar, Special Chief Secretary of the State Disaster Management.
He said that a blueprint has been prepared on how to rescue and that was handed over to the rescue teams. On the other hand, appropriate supplies are being sent to restore electricity inside the tunnel first. Also, steps will have to be taken to restore the oxygen supply tube and then go inside.
It has been 48 hours since the incident and the Army, National Disaster Management Team, Navy commandos and state officials are desperately trying to reach those trapped inside the tunnel. Moreover, members of the team that rescued the victims in the 2023 Uttarakhand tunnel collapse have also now stepped into the field. Six members of the rescue operation team from that time are participating in the relief efforts.
Meanwhile, BRS Working President KT Rama Rao criticized CM Revanth Reddy for putting eight people on the altar and he himself was busy in Graduate MLC elections,as if Emperor Nero played the fiddle while Rome was burning. He said that it was despicable politics for the Chief Minister to indulge in the MLC election campaign in this disastrous situation where the SLBC tunnel collapsed and the whereabouts of eight people are unknown.
He questioned if the state Chief Minister is not serious about the terrible tragedy that has befallen him, and how will the rescue operation proceed? The Chief Minister has time to visit districts in the election campaign, but he said that he does not have time to go to the SLBC tunnel, which is filled with the cries of the injured. Is this the value placed on people’s lives under Indiramma’s rule?, he asked.
