Actress Sri Reddy appeared before the Pusapatirega Police in Vizianagaram district on Friday following summons issued in connection with controversial videos she posted on social media ahead of the recent Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections.
In the videos, Sri Reddy made objectionable remarks against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and Minister Nara Lokesh. The posts drew widespread criticism and led to formal complaints from supporters of the ruling coalition.
Following the complaints, police registered a case and served her a notice to appear for questioning. In compliance, Sri Reddy presented herself at the police station today, where the investigation is currently underway.
During the tenure of former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Sri Reddy had frequently posted unrestrained and offensive content on social media. However, after the new coalition government came to power, she publicly apologized for her past remarks and pledged to refrain from making political statements in the future.
In a video statement, she issued a direct apology to Minister Nara Lokesh, saying, “Nara Lokesh anna, please forgive me.” Despite her apology, ruling party supporters insisted on legal action, prompting the ongoing investigation.
