Speaker Ayyannapatrudu Advises Jagan To Learn About Assembly Rules

Sunday, April 6, 2025

AP Assembly Speaker Ch. Ayyannapatrudu has advised YSRCP chief YS Jagan to learn about the rules and regulations of the Assembly. The AP Assembly budget sessions will begin from the 24th of this month. In this context, Ayyannapatrudu and Deputy Speaker Raghuramakrishna Raju held a media conference in Delhi.

Ayyannapatrudu criticized the YSRCP leaders for their strange words. He expressed surprise that Jagan is asking for the same amount of time as Chandrababu in the Assembly. He clarified that Jagan does not have the status of opposition leader and revealed that if a member does not attend the Assembly for 60 days without any permission, action can be taken as per the rules.

He explained that a letter should be given to the Speaker stating that he is unable to attend the Assembly due to a specific reason, and the Speaker will grant permission if the member’s letter contains a reasonable reason. He said that members who do not attend the House will have to give letters personally.

However, he clarified that it is not possible to put fake signatures in the assembly attendance list. Ayyanna suggested that Jagan should be given a chance to speak to the other MLAs in YSRCP and to raise the issues of their constituencies. He said that he is requesting Jagan and the YSRCP leaders to come to the assembly and speak on the issues.

He recalled that he had instructed him to attend the assembly when he took charge as the speaker. But he expressed regret that instead of coming to the assembly, he was sitting at his palace and talking in his palace.

Ayyannapatrudu said that they have decided to hold the AP Assembly budget sessions from February 24, but in the meantime, they have decided to organize training classes for the MLAs in Vijayawada. He said that out of 174 people who were elected as MLAs, 84 were elected as MLAs for the first time. In this context, he said that they have explained to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla that it would be good to provide training to all of them on how to behave in legislative assemblies.

They will be held for two days, i.e. on February 22 and 23. They explained that Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu have been invited for these. Stating that during the previous government’s tenure, the Assembly sessions were held for only 61 days in the five years, the Speaker said that they want to hold Assembly sessions for at least 75 days a year.

Only then will the MLAs have the opportunity to discuss public issues in the Assembly, he clarified. However, when he was first elected as an MLA, the then Chief Minister NTR conducted training classes for MLAs for 7 days at Gandipet on the outskirts of Hyderabad city, Ayyanna Patrudu recalled on this occasion.
