Wednesday, July 3, 2024

Congress top leaders Sonia Gandhi and Mallikarjuna Kharge said to be worried over Congress party’s failure in Telangana to win significant seats in the Lok Sabha elections. Both the top leaders questioned Chief Minister and TPCC President A Revanth Reddy, when he met them on Saturday during Congress Working Committee (CWC) and Parliamentary Party meetings in Delhi.

They wondered why this change within six months of the party coming to power in the state. Moreover, they were surprised to see the BJP winning 8 MP seats at par with the Congress. Revanth Reddy was reportedly forced to give explanation to the party’s poor performance.

Speaking at the CWC, Kharge expressed his dismay at the dismal results in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh as well as Telangana where the Congress is in power. It has been announced that the situation in these three states will be reviewed separately.

Out of 17 seats in Telangana, Congress and BJP won 8 seats each while AIMIM won one seat. The main opposition BRS could not win a single seat. Moreover, except for two seats, it fell to the third position. In this way, the BJP’s rise in strength in Telangana is worrying the Congress leadership.

It is learned that Congress leader Sonia Gandhi told CM Revanth Reddy that the party’s Lok Sabha results in Telangana were disappointing her. It is reported that when about 12 seats were expected, why so less.

Sonia Gandhi expressed her discontent about the party’s poor performance in Telangana and Karnataka, where it expected more seats as the party is in power, that too at a time the party’s performance in the north was impressive.

On the other hand, Mallikarjuna Kharge expressed his dissatisfaction in the CWC meeting that the Congress-ruled state did not get the expected results in the Lok Sabha elections. In a way he questioned the performance of Revanth Reddy’s government.
