Kalidindi Phani Kumar, aged 40, a software engineer working in Hyderabad, has reportedly been missing after he was stranded in Vijayawada floods on Saturday evening. The whereabouts of the victim haven’t been traced so far. It is believed that he might have been washed away in the floods along with his car.
Going into the details, Phani Kumar came to his home town Machilipatnam on the eve of Vinayaka Chaviti festival on Saturday. Later, he visited his relatives in Gannavaram and started return journey to Machilipatnam in the evening. However, he was stuck in deep water at Kankipadu lake due to the overflow of Budameru canal.
Having noticed Phani Kumar inside his car which was submerged by flood water, the locals have alerted the nearby police. Despite attempts to rescue him, the police couldn’t save him due to darkness and heavy rain. He has reportedly been washed away due to flooding of the area. It is heard that Phani Kumar went ahead with his journey towards Khesarapalli – Uppuluru road even though his relatives warned him of the flood situation.
Efforts are now being made to trace him. It is not yet known if Phani Kumar was washed away or he made a miraculous escape and took shelter somewhere.
