Six AP Universities Ready To collaborate with Japanese University of Toyama

The 2015 agreement signed between the AP state government and the Japanese University of Toyama to implement Japanese education in the state, has revived again. The Vice Chancellors of six universities in AP met with a Japanese team at the Acharya Nagarjuna University near Guntur on Wednesday and decided to reach into an MoU.

The collaboration will be in the fields of students, faculty and research in Andhra Pradesh universities. The Japanese delegation, after examining the details provided by the Chairman of the AP Higher Education Council and the VCs of several universities, responded positively.

In this context, in a discussion on the topic of ‘Collaborative Dialogue on Education between Toyama Prefecture and Andhra Pradesh’, State Higher Education Council Acting Chairman Prof K. Rammohan Rao said that in order to continue the Japanese education policy in Andhra Pradesh, the implementation of the Japanese education policy in the respective states will be examined in AP.

He said that the state government is making plans to achieve Swarnandhra Pradesh by 2047. As part of that, the Chief Minister has suggested that the implementation of the Japanese education policy be examined in the state. He also suggested that a special course on Japanese language be provided to students.

Nagarjuna University VC Prof K. Gangadhara Rao said that two students from the university visited Toyama University as part of the Sakura Science Exchange Program and improved their skills in various subjects.

International Affairs Division Director Yuko Hongo said that they are ready for agreements with universities in Andhra Pradesh. He said that the Governor of Toyama will visit Andhra Pradesh next month and the agreements will be finalized during the visit. He said that they will focus on courses like UG, PG, Research, Center for Excellence, Science and Technology, and Pharmacy.

The program was attended by Higher Education Council Vice Chairman Prof Umamaheshwari Devi, Industrial Location and Trade Division Logistics and Trade Director Hidehisa, International Affairs Division Section Chief AI Dobu, Former Coordinator of International Relations Dasari Ramesh, Padmavati Mahila University VC Prof Vennam Uma, Venkateswara University VC Prof CH. Apparao, Andhra University Rector Prof. N. Kishore Babu, JNTU Anantapur VC Professor H. Sudarshan Rao, JNTU Kakinada VC Professor KVSD Muralikrishna,  Indo-Japanese Collaboration Consultant Swathi Bhagwat and others participated.
