PCC Chief YS Sharmila asked Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu whether he will get funds from the Narendra Modi-led government for the Vijayawada flood victims or quit from the NDA. She visited the flood victims in Vijayawada’s old Rajarajeswari Peta and accused TDP-YCP of doing mud politics on Budameru floods.
Sharmila fumed that the government was sleeping when 7 lakh people became homeless due to Vijayawada floods. She deplored that though the Chief Minister said that there was a loss of Rs 6800 crores due to floods, the center did not give even a single rupee. She demanded that Chandrababu Naidu should bring Rs 10,000 crore from Narendra Modi government as flood-relief, but he should not collect donations from innocent children.
She questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not come to witness unprecedented flood damage in Vijayawada city. She said that we should not forget that BJP is in power only after it wins MPs from AP. She wondered about the Prime Minister, who has been travelling elsewhere but not visiting here?
The APCC chief lamented that Andhra Pradesh, unable to get any benefit even from Chandrababu Naidu, has been extending very crucial support to Narendra Modi’s government. Sharmila recalled that she had written a letter to the Center on the state’s issues, but was unable to get any response. Sharmila asked Chandrababu to answer about BJP’s fraud in the state.
Earlier, Sharmila said that the late former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy had undertaken ‘Operation Kolleru’ and had completed some works. But later, she deplored that successive governments were accused of encouraging invasions.
She protested why the repairs to the canals were not done at least. She said that the encroachments should be removed completely and action should be taken against all illegal land grabbers. Sharmila demanded to provide assistance to the flood affected families at the rate of Rs 1 lakh rupees per victim.
