APCC chief YS Sharmila took severe exception over the boycott of the present assembly session by YCP chief and former chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, protesting against denying `Leader of Opposition’ status. She ridiculed it like `showing anger against aunty on a donkey’.
Sharmila demanded that all the YCP MLAs should resign if they do not have the courage to go to the Assembly. She advised her brother that people did not elect him to the Assembly to show his anger against someone by not attending it and to speak before his own mike at home, instead of speaking on the floor of the assembly.
She lamented that it was due to his own mistakes people kept him away from the status of ‘Leader of Opposition’ and blaming someone else for it will not serve purpose. She wondered over his assertion that he will enter the assembly only if he is given that status, which is nothing but a proof of his foolishness and ignorance.
Sharmila expressed her anger that it is shameful that if the people give the YSRCP the opportunity to raise its voice against the government’s failures, running away from its crucial responsibility in a democracy on some lame excuse.
She reminded that the Congress party did not weaken even though it was limited to 26 seats in 1994. She said that it did not change to want opposition status like the YSRCP.
She recalled that with mere 26 members Congress party has provided very effective opposition to the then ruling party in the united Andhra Pradesh. Congress stood on the side of the people questioning the government anti-people policies with determination, she added.
Sharmila also reminded that even though it was confined to 44 seats at the center in 2014 and got 52 seats in 2019, the Congress party never wanted opposition status. Sharmila explained that despite not having opposition status, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge raised their voices on public issues.
She said that they have always exposed the negligence of the Modi dictatorial regime. She said that the Congress has become the voice of the people of the country. He suggested that Jagan should put aside his madness and go to the assembly and expose the negligence of the alliance.
