Setback To Ruling coalition, AP High Court Given stay on Removal of YSRCP’s Kadapa Mayor

In a big setback to the TDP-led ruling coalition government in the state, the AP High Court has issued a key decision in the matter of the removal of the Kadapa Mayor and stayed the removal of the Mayor. The High Court bench has stayed the single judge’s verdict.

The stay on the decision taken by the government when Maha Nadu is going on in Kadapa is causing embarrassment particularly to the TDP. This has become a big relief for the YSRCP. Now how the government will respond to the stay order is becoming crucial.

The High Court has given big relief to Kadapa Municipal Corporation Mayor Suresh Babu. It stayed the orders given by the Principal Secretary of the Municipal Administration Department removing him from the responsibilities of the mayor.

It has dismissed the supplementary petition filed by Suresh Babu seeking suspension of the removal order and has stayed the verdict given by the single judge. The court has already ordered the government to file a counter. The High Court bench has given orders in this regard.

Suresh Babu has filed an urgent petition in the High Court challenging the orders issued on the 14th of this month removing him from the post of mayor. During the hearing of this case, advocate VR Reddy Kovvuri presented arguments on behalf of the petitioner.

He said that the orders were issued removing him from the post without considering the petitioner’s request for time to explain. Senior advocate representing the Municipal Administration Department, and Kadapa MLA Madhavi, Adinarayana Rao said that the petitioner, who is serving as the mayor, has misused his position.

He said that the petitioner’s argument that he was not aware of the allocation of works to Vardhini Constructions Company, which belongs to his family members, is meaningless. He said that the Chief Secretary issued the removal orders only after giving the petitioner a notice and seeking an explanation.

He requested that no interference be made in this matter. The judge, after considering these arguments, dismissed the supplementary petition filed by the petitioner. The orders given by the bench now seem to provide relief to the YCP.
