The Telangana High Court has given a shock to BRS Working President and former minister KT Rama Rao in the Formula E racing case. The High Court bench dismissed the quash petition filed by KTR seeking to quash the case registered by the ACB. The court agreed with the government’s arguments.
The High Court also lifted the interim orders. It made it clear that they cannot interfere in the ACB investigation. This has paved the way for the ACB to arrest him. The High Court commented that everyone should follow the law. The rule of law applies to everyone. Now, KTR’s legal team is said to be preparing to approach the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, it is known that the ACB has registered a case against KTR and two others for diversion of funds in Formula E car racing. The ACB has registered an FIR, naming KTR as A1, IAS officer Arvind Kumar as A2, and HMDA retired chief engineer BLN Reddy as A3. However, KTR filed a quash petition in the High Court to quash the FIR registered by the ACB.
KTR’s lawyer argued in the High Court that Section 409 was not applicable and none of the cases filed against KTR were applicable. KTR’s lawyer brought to the court’s attention that there was no corruption at all when the agreements were signed with the FEO, and that there was no evidence that KTR had benefited.
On the other hand, the lawyer argued on behalf of the government that KTR had abused his power. That is why he was included as A1. The High Court was told that the case is in the preliminary investigation stage and that the real facts will come out if KTR is interrogated.
The Governor has granted permission to register an FIR in this case. He also said that the case was registered only after the preliminary investigation. The Advocate General argued that KTR has a key role in this case and that the quash petition should be dismissed for a full investigation.
After hearing both the arguments, the court reserved the case on December 31 and adjourned it till today. However, the High Court, which gave its verdict today, made it clear that it cannot interfere in this case.
