Congress MLC Jeevan Reddy, who was furious that his opponent, BRS MLA Sanjay was inducted into the party without his knowledge, received a rude shock from the party high-command. Jeevan Reddy is a senior leader and a former minister, when he felt insulted admitting his political opponent into the party without consulting him, many senior leaders in Telangana felt it a very bad precedent.
Several senior leaders, including deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka went to him and tried to pacify and bring to the notice of the party high-command. Jeevan Reddy has been contesting against Sanjay during the last three elections.
Finally, Telangana Congress incharge Deepa Das Munshi interfered and asked him to come to Delhi to discuss with the party high-command on his grouse. Many felt that he would be given assurance of a cabinet berth.
However, he failed to get any assurance from the party high- command. He could meet only party general secretary KC Venugopal and Deepa Das Munshi, who made it clear that the party will encourage defections from BRS. However, they only said that hereafter local leaders will be consulted.
Jeevan Reddy, who thought that he would have a meeting with the top leaders of the party, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, was disappointed that no such appointment was given. After meeting Deepa Das Munshi and KC Venugopal, was left with no option but to completely reconcile.
Now he had no way but to prepare to adjust with the changed political scenario. On this occasion Deepa Das Munshi asserted that admissions into the Congress party will continue.
It is learned that KC Venugopal suggested that Jeevan Reddy should talk to Chief Minister Revant Reddy if he has any problems. However, Revanth Reddy, who admitted BRS MLA Sanjay into BRS, did not so far try to contact Jeevan Reddy to pacify him.
Later, Jeevan Reddy told the media that he is withdrawing his decision to resign from the post of MLC. He said that KC Venugopal has promised to give due respect to the leaders in the party and to protect the workers who are serving the party from the beginning.
In a desperate mood, he said that some decisions are inevitable in the changing political situation. When the media persons asked him ‘Will you work with MLA Sanjay in Jagityal?’, he refused a direct answer, but only said he would work with the party high-command.
