The construction work of capital Amaravati is likely to start on December 1, said Municipal and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana. He said that it is estimated that Rs.60,000 crores will be spent on the construction of the capital and will be made into a world-class number one city.  It is aimed to be completed in four years.

He and Union Minister of State Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma spoke at the Credai Southcon-2024 meeting held at Kankipadu in Krishna district on Saturday. Narayana said that the report of the IIT expert committee will be received in the first week of next month.

After receiving the report, fresh tenders will be called and old tenders will be closed, he said. He said that there is a possibility of increasing the estimates of the construction of Amaravati. He said that earlier tenders were called for Rs. 41,000 crores.

Narayana said that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has ordered to develop 26 districts along with Amaravati. Credai was asked to cooperate in the development of Amaravati.  He assured builders that they will make it easier to issue layouts and permits for building construction without going around the offices, work to give them in a single window and simplify the online system.

Srinivasa Varma said that it is fortunate that Chandrababu Naidu, a visionary leader, has become the Chief Minister. He said that the Center will cooperate in the construction of the capital. Chandrababu, who took over as Chief Minister, has met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and 13 Union Ministers many times in these two months.

He said that immediately after he requested to cooperate in the development of the capital, the Center announced a financial assistance of Rs. 15,000 crores. He appealed for the return of the construction industry companies that had left the state during the previous government’s regime. He promised Credai representatives to give them an opportunity to discuss their problems with Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Ministers.
