The Revanth Reddy government is seeking Rs 1.63 lakh crore in the central budget proposals for Telangana. It is appealing for financial assistance for the Regional Ring Road, Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase II, Musi River development and other infrastructure projects in the budget to be presented in Parliament on February 1.
To this extent, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Finance Minister Bhatti Wickramarama and the ministers of the relevant departments have already submitted proposals to the central ministers on these issues.
The state government is choosing the Regional Ring Road, industrial growth, logistical hubs and Pharmacity as priority areas for Hyderabad. For this, it has sought Rs 34,367 crore from the center. Although land acquisition has started, it is waiting for the necessary permissions from the center.
The second phase of Hyderabad Metro Rail expansion will cover a distance of 76.4 km. There is a proposal to build it with central and state funds. The state government has requested Rs 24,269 crore as the central share for this.
There is another important proposal from Telangana for the Musi River Revitalization Project. The state government has requested to provide 220 acres of land belonging to the Defense Department near Musi for this project. It has requested cooperation by saying that this project will require funds of Rs. 14,100 crore.
It has requested the release of pending grants of Rs. 1,800 crore from the Center and to pay the funds due from AP under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act and the debts of Rs. 2,547.07 crore incurred by the state. It has requested the Center to intervene in settling the arrears of Rs. 495.20 crore to be allocated to Telangana under the Centrally Sponsored Schemes of 2014-15.
The state is demanding that the promises made in the Reorganization Act such as the comprehensive coach factory in Kazipet and the Bayyaram Uku factory be fulfilled. It wants to further improve railway connectivity.
It has submitted proposals to grant approvals for the establishment of new airports in Mamunur in Warangal district, Palvancha in Khammam district, Antargaon in Peddapalli district, and Adilabad. It has appealed to allocate funds of Rs 1.63 lakh crore to the state in the total central budget proposals.
