Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Friday conducted a high-level review on the contentious Kanch Gachibowli land issue in Hyderabad and issued key directives to officials regarding the government’s next steps.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister took serious note of artificial intelligence-generated videos circulating on social media that falsely claimed wildlife had been displaced due to tree cutting in the area. He instructed officials to approach the court seeking an inquiry into the origin and intent behind the videos.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that several development projects have been established on the Kanch Gachibowli lands over the past 25 years, and no environmental or wildlife-related concerns had previously arisen. They added that the recently circulated videos were misleading and aimed at creating unnecessary confusion.
Revanth Reddy directed officials to ensure such incidents are not repeated and stressed the need to strengthen the state’s cybercrime capabilities. He called for the acquisition of advanced forensic, hardware, and software tools to detect and counter AI-generated fake content.
The review meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers Seethakka and Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, the Managing Director of TSIIC, and senior officials from the Forest Department.
