Revanth Reddy, KTR Spar Over Kaleshwaram Project

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao engaged in a heated exchange over the Kaleshwaram project, with both leaders making strong accusations.
KTR criticized the government for failing to address farmers’ concerns despite widespread crop losses. He condemned ministers for referring to Kaleshwaram as ‘Kuleshwaram,’ stating that such remarks were inappropriate. He further questioned the Chief Minister’s stance, highlighting the contradiction of calling the project a failure while simultaneously promising to supply water to Hyderabad from Kondapochamma Sagar and Mallanna Sagar. He asserted that if Kaleshwaram had collapsed, associated projects like Kondapochamma Sagar, Mallanna Sagar, and Baswapur would not be functional.
In response, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stated that Godavari waters could be utilized even without the Kaleshwaram project. He alleged that the project was redesigned for commissions and real estate gains rather than for irrigation needs. Reaffirming the government’s commitment to exposing irregularities, he questioned how long falsehoods about the project would persist.
Revanth Reddy also announced the government’s readiness to form a fact-finding committee on the project. He confirmed that a one-member commission is already investigating alleged corruption in Kaleshwaram and assured that its report would be presented in the upcoming Assembly session.
