The Revanth Reddy government, which demolished the fences at Praja Bhavan and rushed to end the restrictions as soon as it came to power, is now taking steps to implement the Police Act across the state. To cover up its failures and curb the discontent brewing among all sections of the people, the situation has arisen by trusting the police.
While Section 144 is already in force in Hyderabad, the Police Act is being implemented in many districts. SP Rupesh issued orders on Friday that the Police Act will be implemented for the entire month in Sangareddy district. The Police Act is being implemented in Kamareddy district till the 7th of this month.
The Congress government is saying that it has officially implemented the Police Act in 13 districts so far. The Congress regime resorting to such tactics as it has been facing public discontent within 11 months, dharnas, protests and agitations have become a routine in the state. Hydra demolitions, Musi project, free bus rides, Bathukamma saree orders stopped.
The government has affected people from all walks of life. Farmers demanding loan waiver, Rythu Bandhu, auto drivers demanding job loss, handloom workers demanding time off for studies, students demanding reimbursement.. Every section of the people who have lost their jobs are taking to the streets and protesting.
Eventually, even the police have resorted to protests in the state. Intelligence sources have reportedly given a report to the government stating that the protests in the state are likely to escalate. The reports have made it clear that people are extremely angry and that if this continues, they will attack the houses of MLAs and sit at the houses of Congress leaders.
It is learnt that high-ranking officials have ordered lockdowns to be implemented everywhere. From the beginning, there has been no consistency between what the government is saying and what it is doing. Initially, CM Revanth Reddy said that the gates of the Secretariat will be open and anyone can come and meet any minister at any time.
But passes are being given only between 3-5 pm at the Secretariat. Restrictions are in place on the sixth floor and the second floor inside. Barricades have been put up to block Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka’s access. Barricades have been set up at his house and in the Secretariat. As protests rage, Section 144 is being implemented for a 2-km stretch around the Secretariat and the CM’s residence.
BRS working president K T Rama Rao called it a ‘dictatorial regime’ that had deprived people of their rights. Responding to the Statewide implementation of the Police Act, he said that after 10 years of breathing freely, Telangana was once again experiencing the days of emergency.
