Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who dubbed Serilingampally MLA Arekapudi’s attack on BRS MLA Kaushik Reddy’s house as an `internal conflicts of BRS’ realizing the damage it has created to `Brand Hyderabad’, was seems to be forced a case of `Attempt to Murder’ against MLA Gandhi.
The Cyberabad police registered a case against Gandhi, corporators Venkatesh Goud and Srikanth, besides Gandhi’s brother and son, for allegedly attempting to murder BRS legislator Padi Kaushik Reddy on Thursday. A group of people led by MLA Gandhi and others trespassed into the house of Kaushik Reddy and damaged furniture and other articles on Thursday following a staff off between Gandhi and Kaushik Reddy.
The police invoked Sections pertaining to criminal trespass, rioting, unlawful assembly, damaging property and attempt to murder against Gandhi and others after Kaushik Reddy filed a complaint with the police in Gachibowli Police Station. Already two FIRs were registered against Gandhi and others in the same incident.
The uproar started after the Speaker appointed Gandhi, who defected into Congress after electing as BRS MLA as Chairman of Public Accounts Committee, which by tradition goes to opposition MLA. In a course correction, Gandhi has denied on Friday that he didn’t join Congress and claimed he is still a BRS MLA.
BRS leaders became angry as in the presence of police only Gandhi and his followers were able to create rucks at Kaushik Reddy’s house. Moreover, having allowed Gandhi to attack the latter’s house, the police prevented Kaushik and BRS activists from moving forward.
The attack visualized like the Rayalaseema faction fight that too in the IT corridor zone created havoc to the Brand Hyderabad’ image. Moreover it also dent into the image of the Hyderabad police for remaining as spectators when ruling party supporters took law into their hands. This has forced the Chief Minister to take some corrective measures.
On the other hand, this has also led to invoke regional ill-feelings that were practically kept away during the last ten years. Moreover, most Congress leaders seem to be remaining unconcerned about this incident, thus the Chief Minister was forced to face the entire blame.
