Revanth Reddy Flays BJP’s Dual stance on Approval of BC Reservation Bill

Thursday, December 4, 2025

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed his anger that the BJP leadership is adopting a dual stance on the approval of the BC Reservation Bill. He criticized that they are now talking differently after supporting the 42 percent reservation bill in the assembly.

Stating that Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay are saying that the percentage of Muslims should be removed, he questioned whether there will be one justice in BJP-ruled states and one justice for Telangana? He asked why the BJP is not removing Muslim reservations in UP, Gujarat and Maharashtra?

He reminded that PM Narendra Modi had previously said that Muslim reservations have been in force in Gujarat since a few decades ago. He accused the BJP of trying to do injustice to BCs in Telangana by naming a group. Stating that the High Court has ordered that local body elections be held in Telangana by September, he said that if the Center approves the reservation bill quickly, they will be held as soon as possible.

CM Revanth Reddy reminded that a survey was conducted on the social, economic and political conditions of all castes in the state and a bill was prepared providing 42 percent reservation to BCs based on the survey. He said that the bill passed by the Assembly has been sent for the President’s approval and it has been decided to put pressure on the Central government for the approval of the bills.

He said that he has appealed to the top leadership in Delhi to put pressure on the Center and is also trying to gather support from the leaders of the India block. He said that the caste census process carried out in Telangana will be explained to the members of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

He said that the Center will conduct a population and caste census next year and the caste census conducted in Telangana will serve as a model for the caste census conducted by the Center.

Revanth Reddy said that the personal details of the individuals were not disclosed in the survey and that 3.99 percent of the people said in the survey that they did not belong to any caste and that they are moving forward based on the report given by the Independent Expert Study Committee.

The Chief Minister lamented that those who are conspiring to block BC reservations are raising doubts. He said that if the caste census survey data is needed, it will be presented before the respective parties and in the Assembly. He made it clear that no reservations are given on the basis of religion in Telangana.

Revanth Reddy stated that 42 percent reservations have been brought only on the basis of social, economic and political backwardness, and 5 Muslim castes in UP are getting the benefits of reservations.
