Chief Minister Revanth Reddy instructed the officials to complete the irrigation projects in the state in order of priority and to complete the incomplete irrigation projects on the Krishna in the state by June 2027. Accordingly, he said that targets should be set along with a fixed deadline. He suggested that the work of projects that can be completed at low cost should be taken up quickly.
He instructed the Finance Department to ensure that there is no problem in funding for the projects selected as a priority in the Krishna Basin. He said that the special officers should coordinate with the Revenue Department to complete the land acquisition quickly.
The Chief Minister held a review meeting at the Jal Soudha on the pending irrigation projects in the state. Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, along with Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, Principal Secretary Finance Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Principal Secretary Irrigation Rahul Bojja, Secretary Prashant Patil, and ENC Anil Kumar participated in this meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Revanth Reddy directed the completion of the Jaipal Reddy Palamuru Rangareddy project up to Uddanpur as a top priority. He said that the pending works up to Uddanpur should be completed within 18 months and an action plan should be made for that. He also suggested that the Koil Sagar Lift project should be completed by June next year.
The Chief Minister said that the Mahatma Gandhi Kalwakurthy Lift, Jawahar Nettempadu Lift and Rajiv Bhima Lift projects should be completed by December this year. He inquired about the pending works and the funds required in relation to these. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy instructed the officials to intensify their efforts to achieve the rightful share of Krishna waters for Telangana.
He said that the interests of Telangana should be given top priority. He said that since about 70 percent of the Krishna river basin is in Telangana and only 30 percent is in AP, he said that we should insist before the tribunal to get 70 percent share of Krishna waters for Telangana state. He said that the quota should be increased so that the 90 TMC that AP is taking from the Godavari basin through Pattiseema can be used upstream.
